Everyone in this world would at some point of their life wonders, ponders, thinks and searches for the meaning of life. Some would blame others for lost opportunities in their life because it was taken up by others. Some blame their parents for bringing them into this world. Some don't understand why some people are born rich while they themselves are poor. Some would be self-pity because they see themselves as not so talented compare to others. Some would try anything in the boundaries of their abilities to get what they want in life but ended up with less than their expectation or nothing. Some would grief over defeats because of perceived unfair competition. To the extreme end, some would steal and kill just for the possession of material beings.
We are living in this wonderful world created by the Almighty. We are created uniquely. We are all different. Because of the differences each and everyone of us has, we go different ways. We choose to do things differently. We see things differently. We have different perspectives.
Well, what I'm trying to bring across is that life can meaningful if we can see it in the right perspective. In the perspective that is relevant to us, that is purpose driven and that brings meanings to our life.
I read this in the Purpose Driven Life Group that I joined in multiply.com. I find it very meaningful and interesting how a young person can see in the a perspective many would struggle to grasp. I just wanna share it with you guys.
[ One day a father and his rich family took his young son on a trip to the country with the firm purpose to show him how poor people can be. They spent a day and a night in the farm of a very poor family.
When they got back from their trip the father asked his son,
"How was the trip?"
"Very good, Dad!"
"Did you see how poor people can be?"
"Yeah!"
"And what did you learn?"
"I saw that we have a dog at home, and they have four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of the garden, they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lamps in the garden, they have the stars. Our patio reaches to the front yard, they have a whole horizon."
When the little boy was finishing, his father was speechless.
His son added, "Thanks, Dad, for showing me how poor we are!"
Isn't it true that it all depends on the way you look at things?
If you have love, friends, family, health, good humor and a positive attitude toward life, you've got everything! You can't buy any of these things.
You can have all the material possessions you can imagine, provisions for the future, etc., but if you are poor of spirit, you have nothing! ]
Hope my small little sharing would help some of you. Cheers.

Right on. i am on a similar path to finding meaning in my life.. good story.
very well said. sometimes a person just got to step back and look at life from a different perspective. but of course it isn't easy.
